Penan Woven Clutch (Burgundy)
Be the life of the party with our unique hand-woven clutch! Inspired by the traditional weaving motifs of the Penan people, but with a contemporary colour scheme and chic minimalist lines, these clutches are guaranteed to turn heads.
This item is handmade by one of the Penan, an aboriginal semi-nomadic tribe of the Borneo Rainforest. Their goods are originally made from rattan, bamboo, and native hardwood. However, these natural resources are hard to come by these days, as the forests that sustain them are slowly being destroyed for timber and agricultural development. Nowadays, the Penan women, who are highly skillful weavers, mainly use PVC material to make these beautiful, durable, and practical products. The proceeds from the sale of this product will go back to help the Penan community, and to provide for their educational, social and economic needs and development.
